DESIGN

A ROLL OF THE DICE
When looking for inspiration for this design, a card with an ace that was shattering into pieces came up. Since my story was about how luck didn't really exist, I thought that this concept would be fitting, and chose a die to be the disintegrating element as it was talked about more often in the story. The neon in the headline, drop cap and pull quote was a recurring feature of our package on luck, as we wanted a non-conventional way to portray the concept of luck. The neon was meant to represent the signs in Las Vegas, known for its gambling, which in turn looked to luck.
THE TRUTH ABOUT LYING
We wanted to design a nice, clean spread, so we decided to play around with the concept of a lot of white space. To contrast this, we implemented bold, noticeable elements, such as the blocky text of the headline and the prominent center pull quote. Striking through parts of the design was an idea that came about through accident, when thinking of underlining certain words in the headline and unintentionally placing it through the middle instead. Since we liked the way it looked, we experimented with it a bit more and ended up having it recur throughout the page and package.
